FUNCTIONS

Ensure fuze RDA programs are being executed in accordance with the guidance, direction and priority established by the User, and applicable regulations. Manage and operate the Army Fuze Safety Review Board.

Provide centralized management of assigned non-nuclear Army fuzes through the total life cycle. In that regard the AFMO will ensure design safety, resolve disparate requirements, minimize fuze proliferation, eliminate unnecessary duplication of effort, and promote transfer of new technology to development programs in a timely manner.

Ensure that appropriate fuzing designs are used in each specific application by reviewing preliminary designs and participating in system engineering teams, critical design reviews and milestone reviews.

Manage development of fuzes or S&A components, at the request of a customer.

Ensure that P3I and MC programs are being executed in accordance with the guidance and direction established by the user through Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA).

Provide assistance as required, to special study groups, special task forces, joint working groups, the DoD Fuze IPT, and acquisition teams on programs embodying fuzes.
